Cloud Nine on The Green.
Dr. John and Clara Day - Comanche Trace residents.

Why Texas?
There is the beauty of the Texas Hill Country landscape and of course, the lifestyle and golf opportunities at Comanche Trace. But, the main reason we decided to build our retirement home in Texas in John's heritage. He is Texas born and bred, so this is home. Our relationship with Tony Roberts Homes began in 2005, following a visit to The Parade of Homes Tour and an introduction to the Links House.

Blissful Start
We fell in love with a uniquely shaped lot, narrow in the front, wide at the back, and situated on the first tee of the new nine-hole golf course at Comanche Trace. Tony helped us choose the site. He staked out the property to the specs of our house plan to illustrate the lots suitability. Because we could visualize the blissful views from every window, front to back - we were sold.

Southwest Elements?
In Boise, architectural styles are vastly different and starting afresh we wanted a home combining the design elements of Texas and the Southwest. Tony customized a house plan to fit our requirements. We liked it right away, and made very few changes.

With Tony Roberts located 1,711 miles away from our home in Idaho, the Internet gave us an amazing connection and the distance never slowed down the project. Tony and his team sent frequent updates and pictures. Using our house plan as a reference point, we answered almost any question within an hour.

Easy to Communicate

(As designated point person to the family, Clara visits Kerrville every six weeks to review the work in progress.)

The project continues to move along nicely because Tony knows what he is doing. I have a lot of confidence in him and the entire team - and I've had no stress at all. When John and I make a suggestion they don't say no; they say okay lets talk. A great benefit of this open communication style is the expert input we receive.

I was present when the foundation was poured; when they began to frame in the house, and again while the plumbing, electrical, rock work, and kitchen cabinets were being installed. And, throughout construction Tony made sure we were included in every step of the decision making process. Our home comfort and design needs are always first priority. As an example, Tony and his team asked us where to located the electrical plugs, light fixtures - even the light switches.

Of course there are a number of sub-contractors and whenever there was a need for clarification, Tony set up a conference call for all of us to sort out the answers.

Everyone at Tony Roberts Homes has become like family. I can not imagine using anyone else to build our home. The experience has been wonderful.

The Day home was completed in the fall of 2008. This home was showcased in the 2008 Hill Country Home Builders Association Tour of Homes among 20 other homes from Kerr and Gillespie Counties, and was awarded the prestigious Presidents Award.
